Cyclotourism

Here, we live happiness on two wheels!

Over 300 km of bike paths await you, winding through peaceful riverbanks, picturesque villages, and rural landscapes. Whether you’re traveling with family, friends, or are a passionate cyclist, our varied routes offer an accessible experience, ranging from a simple leisurely ride to a grand adventure.

Here, cycling is synonymous with pleasure and freedom. Thanks to its almost level terrain, the Haut-Richelieu is ideal for families and long-distance enthusiasts alike. We offer one of the largest cycling networks in the Montérégie.

  • Choose a tour based on your skill level and the duration you prefer (half-day, full-day, or weekend).

  • Check the weather and pack your gear (helmet, water bottle, repair kit).

  • Start your day in Old Saint-Jean, where you’ll find parking and access to the entire network. Parking lots P8 and P22 are nearby. After stopping by for tips from our team, you can take a break at our cafés, restaurants, and tourist attractions along the routes. Want to lock your bike in a rack and enjoy a nice outdoor terrace? New bike racks are available in P30.

3 bicycle paths

For the uninitiated or young families, we recommend the region's bike paths. They're safe and often signposted, so you can enjoy the ride without worrying about the itinerary.

Cycling networks that extend beyond the borders of Haut-Richelieu.

This is particularly true of Axis 1 of the Route verte, which uses the Canal-de-Chambly and La Montérégiade bike paths.

La Piste du Lièvre runs through the municipality of Lacolle. This bike path joins the Vallée-des-Forts bike path. To the west, it joins the Sentier du Paysan, which crosses the territory of the MRC Les Jardins-de-Napierville.

2 cycle routes

Other possibilities, starting in Old Saint John. Here you'll find two cycling routes on the shoulders of provincial highways.

Sometimes on designated roadways or country lanes.

First, on the left bank of the Richelieu River, with a 49.3 km route, theVallée-des-Forts bike path takes you right up to the American border, in the village of Lacolle.

Then, on the other side of the river, on the Véloroute du lac Champlain, cycling enthusiasts can cycle 49 km to Venise-en-Québec. It's the perfect vacation spot to get away from it all.

5 road bike circuits

There are 5 road bike circuits in our region to get you out of your comfort zone. They give you the opportunity to ride through the region at your own pace, criss-crossing the municipalities on your own, as a couple or with friends.

Of course, these circuits are not designed to prepare you for your next triathlon! In Haut-Richelieu, our watchword is to take the time to live and enjoy.

Enjoy your trip!
