Getting ready for the cycling season
With the return of fine weather, the call of the Haut-Richelieu's bike paths is heard. So, for cyclists getting back in the saddle with the arrival of spring, we suggest a few things you shouldn't forget to get ready for the cycling season.

Maintenance
If it's a bike that hasn't been used during the cold season, maintenance is a must before you start pedaling again. Several specialized stores offer this service in the region. These include Vélozone, Cycle LM, Messier Bicyclettes and Sports au puce.
There are a number of things you need to do to prepare your bike, including adjusting the brakes and gears, lubricating the chain, adjusting the road hubs, the headset and the bottom bracket.
In short, trust the professionals here to check that your bike is in good working order.

Objective
Accumulate as many cycling kilometers as possible during the season. Pedal all the region's bike paths with a group. Use a bucket list to explore the most scenic routes. Ride a specific number of kilometers within a certain timeframe. Or simply take a family outing by bike. Setting a goal helps motivate you, and gives you a sense of pride when you reach it.

Itineraries
Finally, with a well-maintained bike and a goal in mind, all that's left to do is plan your itineraries for the season. With over 300 km of cycling routes, the Haut-Richelieu has everything you need for your cycling season! What's more, our region's predominantly agricultural plateau offers very few gradients, making it suitable for everyone.
