Fall in the Haut-Richelieu region: harvest time! 🍎
Around here, the end of summer and the start of fall mean one thing: it’s harvest time! Apples are certainly a favorite, but there’s so much more to pick in the Haut-Richelieu region.
Apples… but that's not all!
Biting into a freshly picked apple is definitely one of the fall classics. However, around here, the harvest doesn't stop there!
It’s also pear season—you can find them at Le Petit Verger, Charbonneau, and Verger Pierre Tremblay, among other places—as well as plums. Many places also offer pick-your-own, just like with apples. Late-season strawberries are in season too and can be picked through October!
Since you’re stocking up on fruit anyway, you might as well extend the pleasure at home. Ciders, pies, and other products made from the harvest let you bring a little taste of the Haut-Richelieu home with you!
Pumpkins, squash, and a corn maze 🎃
When you think of fall , you obviously think of pumpkins! At Reid Farm in Sabrevois and at Verger Cidrerie Charbonneau in Mont-Saint-Grégoire, you can go pick out and harvest the ones that will end up on your front porch for Halloween.
At Reid Farm, since you’re out in the fields anyway, why not try to find your way out? Its corn maze adds a fun twist to the outing and can easily keep both kids and adults entertained for part of the afternoon.
We pick a pumpkin, get a little lost in the cornfield, and then head home to decorate it. Now that sounds like a pretty great fall day.

Apples, pears, and pumpkins aren’t the only things ripening. In the Haut-Richelieu vineyards, it’s also harvest time!
Take this opportunity to explore the region’s vineyards: Mas des Patriotes in L’Acadie, Domaine Amalgames in Saint-Blaise-sur-Richelieu, and Clos des Cigales in Sabrevois.
Keep an eye on their fall activities and events: harvest season might just be the perfect time to visit them.
Not really your thing, picking your own produce? 😉
No problem— local farmers can handle that part of the job, too! Head to the Vieux-Saint-Jean Public Market to stock up on locally grown fruits and vegetables. Some of the farmers there have been selling their produce there for several generations.
Beyond the produce, the market is also worth a visit for its charm and its place in the history of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. It ’s a simple way to enjoy what the region has to offer without having to venture out into the fields. 😉

Apples, pears, pumpkins, grapes… fall is bountiful in the Haut-Richelieu region! Whether you pick them yourself or leave it to those who do it much better than we do, the local harvests are definitely worth the trip.
