Marché public du Vieux-Saint-Jean

It's the place where you reach 7th heaven!

The Vieux-Saint-Jean Public Market is one of the oldest public markets in Quebec and has been a fixture in Saint-Jean since 1858. A true must-see, it marks the changing seasons and showcases the region’s agricultural bounty, particularly the area’s famous sweet corn. Here, you truly feel as though you’re living in the heart of “Quebec’s pantry.”

At the market, more than twenty local vendors offer fresh produce grown in the surrounding fields, ranging from seasonal fruits and vegetables to regional specialties. You’ll also find ready-to-eat foods, gourmet and processed goods, as well as plenty of culinary treasures to stock your pantry or prepare delicious meals. It’s the perfect place to meet producers, discover new products, and support local businesses.

The market is also designed with families in mind. Children are welcome, and the City of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu has set up a dedicated area for them, featuring a huge floor mural spanning over 400 square meters where they can draw with chalk. This fun feature lets the little ones have fun while adults shop or take a break.

The Vieux-Saint-Jean Public Market is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. To stay updated on which vendors are there, special events, or seasonal announcements, visit their Facebookpage.
