Parc naturel des Parulines
Where you can breathe deeply
Parc naturel des Parulines in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu is a veritable haven for trail walking. This green lung of the city offers over 3 kilometers of accessible trails that invite young and old to explore its various natural environments. This first natural park of its kind in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu covers an area of 26 hectares and is home to a wide variety of habitats, from wooded areas to wetlands and wasteland, creating an environment conducive to hiking and observation.
As you stroll along the trails, you'll have the opportunity to admire a variety of flora, including the oval hickory, the town's emblematic tree. This tree, in precarious condition, is easily distinguished by its bark, which seems to detach from the trunk, creating a unique visual spectacle. Nature lovers will be delighted to discover the local fauna, with numerous species of birds and insects to observe along the way.
Parc naturel des Parulines is also designed with families in mind. Some trails are stroller-friendly, so younger visitors can enjoy nature to the full. The trail is punctuated by relaxation areas where visitors can stop to admire the scenery or enjoy a picnic. Parking is also available at the site entrance, facilitating access for all.
And don't miss the new Parc de la Canadienne, at the end of the Wetlands Trail, featuring innovative wooden play modules to entertain children in a natural setting.
Parc naturel des Parulines is the ideal place to take a breath of fresh air, recharge your batteries and enjoy a nature experience just a stone's throw from the city.
