2026 UCI Road World Championships
The UCI Road World Championships are making a grand return to Montreal, marking a historic moment 52 years after the first edition held outside Europe in 1974. This international event establishes the Greater Montreal area as a true hub of global cycling and is the largest sporting event hosted in the region since the 1976 Olympic Games, the 50th anniversary of which is being celebrated.
Over the course of eight days, nearly 1,000 athletes from 75 countries will gather to compete in 13 high-level events, putting on an impressive sporting spectacle. The competitions bring together the world’s best cyclists, who will face off on demanding courses that combine performance, strategy, and endurance.
The Elite category races, the highlights of the program, will take place on September 26 and 27 in Montreal, as well as in several municipalities in the Montérégie region. The route passes through Brossard, the official starting point, as well as Carignan, Chambly, Saint-Jean-Baptiste, Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Saint-Mathias-sur-Richelieu, and Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, offering spectators numerous opportunities to watch the competition right in the heart of their communities.
Admission to the event is free, allowing a wide audience to enjoy a world-class sporting experience. It also helps showcase the region, its landscapes, and its vibrancy.
A global event, the UCI Road World Championships captivate more than 200 million viewers in nearly 150 countries, providing exceptional visibility for the region. This event thus represents a unique opportunity to celebrate the sport while raising its international profile.
