Discover Mount Saint-Grégoire with CIME Haut-Richelieu
Our natural and historical jewel, a must-see in the region.
The mission of the Centre d'interprétation du milieu écologique (CIME) Haut-Richelieu is to protect and enhance Mount Saint-Grégoire. It invites you to a unique experience combining nature and history. Its height of 251 metres may be modest, but the view from the summit is superb.
Interesting fact: it's the smallest of the Monteregian hills, but even bigger than Mount Royal and Mount Saint-Bruno.
The panorama awaits you from the summit, with views of Montreal, Rougemont, Mont Saint-Hilaire and even the Adirondacks!
Trails and ecosystems
Two trails protected by CIME Haut-Richelieu have been set up here. Nature is rich and diverse on this emblematic mountain.
Mont Saint-Grégoire is home to two exceptional forest ecosystems. First, the maple-hickory stand. Then, the boreal oak forest. It is also home to many threatened plant species and a varied fauna. From the white-tailed deer to the rare peregrine falcon.
Discover the unique blend of geology and vibrant natural life that makes Mont Saint-Grégoire so special.

Accessibility
As you hike, interpretive panels will guide you through the features of the natural environment, while exploring the fascinating history of stone quarrying. The local story continues with the restoration of Lord Johnson's burial vault. It's an initiative that enhances the site's historical heritage.
CIME Haut-Richelieu is also working on the construction of a new multi-service pavilion. Sanitary facilities and an animation room to make your visits even more enjoyable are among the plans for this building, which will also be energy-efficient. Work is scheduled for completion in fall 2025.
